Remember in your personal statement you need to show:

• Passion for your chosen subject(s)
• Evidence of that passion (work experience, hobbies, clubs etc)
• How your AS & A2 subjects will support your study
• What else you can do (how “well rounded” you are)

Don’t forget that the first sentence is Really Important.  Remember the poor old Admissions Officer/tutor has read dozens, hundreds or even thousands of applications for the same course and you need to stand out.  See the difference between:

I want to study English because it’s interesting.  I always liked it at school, and I enjoy reading and writing different kinds of texts.

and

Writing is my passion.  I have had articles published in the local newspaper and I won an award in the Nuneaton Arts Festival last year for one of my poems.
